| Fight Night Round 3 Publisher: EA Sports Developer: EA Chicago Genre: Boxing Release Date: Feb 20, 2006 Language: English Type: .CSO Size: 322 MB Description: EA Sports' boxing franchise makes its handheld debut with Fight Night Round 3 on the PSP. Rather than attempting to cram a full port of the PlayStation 2 version of the game onto the smaller format, EA Chicago has built an entirely different game, specific to the PSP. The incorporation of some of the better elements of the console versions of Round 2 and Round 3, along with the addition of some all-new features, makes the PSP version a competent boxing game that doesn't make too many sacrifices for the sake of portability. Unfortunately, the sacrifices that are made will be sorely obvious to fans of the series, and the resulting experience is somewhat disappointing. The most glaring absence in Round 3 for the PSP is the dual-analog Total Punch Control configuration that the Fight Night series is known for. Instead, the PSP version of the game relies on the analog stick for moving your boxer around the ring, and the face buttons for throwing punches. It's a difficult setup to get used to because there are a lot more punches and moves than there are buttons on the PSP, and for Fight Night veterans it will definitely feel like a step backwards. | Final Fantasy Tactics: War of Lions Publisher: Square Enix Developer: Square Enix Genre: Fantasy Turn-Based Release Date: Oct 9, 2007 Language: English Type: .CSO Size: 64 MB Description: While some games don't withstand the test of time, others, like the commonly praised Final Fantasy Tactics, exist in a state of pristine stasis: never changing, yet standing proud at the head of the class, and rarely bested by legions of pretenders to the throne. In other words, you won't need the rose-hued goggles of nostalgia to appreciate Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions, since it's a great game even by modern standards. If you're new to Tactics, you'll find a strategy role-playing game with plenty of deep gameplay and one of the finest stories in a Final Fantasy game to date. If you've already experienced the 1998 PlayStation original, you'll enjoy some nifty additions in this enhanced port, including terrific cutscenes, new character classes, and new playable characters. There are some noticeable issues in the presentation, and some lurking frustrations in the gameplay remain. In the context of such satisfying gameplay, though, the annoyances are easy to forgive--especially considering you can squeeze 60 or 70 hours of quality entertainment out of it. One of the original's many strengths was its complex, moving story. Almost 10 years later, Tactics expresses more excitement and romance in a single moment than many modern games can manage in their entirety. It helps tremendously that the awkward localization of the original has been replaced with realistic dialogue devoid of grammatical errors (well, except for a few famous ones). There's also another major storytelling enhancement: beautiful, fully acted cutscenes that provide an even greater sense of atmosphere. Calling these scenes cel-shaded wouldn't do them justice, though, since they have a grainy texture to them that resemble a painting more than a cartoon. Suffice it to say, it won't take you long to get caught up in the internal struggles of Ivalice's House of Beoulve, the binding ties of friendship, and the social stigmas of the lower classes. | Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 Publisher: Ubisoft Developer: High Voltage Soft. , Ubisoft Paris Genre: Modern Tactical Shooter Release Date: Aug 23, 2007 Language: MULTI Type: .CSO Size: 641 MB Description: It was only a matter of time before Ubisoft's Ghost Recon series blasted its way to the PlayStation Portable, and it makes a very solid impression with Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2. The Ghost Recon series has always been about playing with the latest and greatest weapons taxpayer money can buy, from the boots of an elite US infantryman. And the PSP game is no different because you'll get to blast enemies half a dozen ways. It's a bit strange that this is called Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 because this is the very first Ghost Recon game for the PSP. The game itself also bears very little resemblance to its Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 cousins. Rather than try to port the superb console game onto a handheld, developer High Voltage instead created a brand new game built specifically for the PSP, complete with an original story and setting, though it's also one that makes sense in the context of the series. In the console GRAW1 and GRAW2, you play as U.S. Army Captain Scott Mitchell as he, along with his fellow soldiers, battles rebels in Mexico. Throughout those games, it's hinted that the Mexican rebels are getting their weapons from somewhere in Central and South America. In the PSP game, you get to go after the source of the rebel's weapons, though the fact that you're still playing at Scott Mitchell stretches the plot's credibility just a bit. After all, if you're familiar with the series, he's supposed to be busy up in Mexico at this time. Download:

| Madden NFL 08 Publisher: EA Sports Developer: EA Sports Genre: Football Sim Release Date: Aug 14, 2007 Language: English Type: .CSO Size: 157 MB Description: For those who bought Madden NFL 07 on the PSP last year, you are hereby excused from having to buy Madden NFL 08. It's not that the game has suddenly become awful, but this year's installment offers very little that it didn't offer last year. Sure, there's a new challenge mode that replaces the End-2-End mode from last year, a few of the bugs have been cleaned up, and a form of the new "weapons" system from the console versions of the game has made it into the PSP game. But these changes aren't enough on their own to warrant another $40 price tag, and when you factor in some of the holdover issues that still haven't been fixed, not to mention some new problems that debut in this year's game, the value becomes even more dubious. This is still a good, solid handheld football game. It just hasn't evolved much from the good, solid football game that came out last year. Download:

| NBA 08 Publisher: SCEA Developer: SCEA Genre: Basketball Sim Release Date: Oct 12, 2007 Language: English Type: .CSO Size: 547 MB Description: Sony Computer Entertainment America has a knack for coming up with interesting twists on conventional basketball. Unfortunately, that ability doesn't seem to extend to making good basketball games. NBA 07 on the PlayStation Portable had some neat ideas but was a chore to play. That's the case for NBA 08 as well. There are a dizzying number of ways to play the game of basketball, but that's the catch: You still have to play basketball, which is not one of the game's strengths. NBA 08's best feature is conquest mode, which returns from last year in improved form. You select an NBA team with the goal of trying to take over every NBA city by defeating its team. If you challenge then defeat a team, you'll control that team and can challenge other nearby cities. Once a turn, you can even swap players between teams you already control in an effort to fortify a weak team. Taking over the entire map isn't easy because that's the goal for all the other teams in the league as well. They'll aggressively try to take over your cities, so it's important that you don't water down your squads too much or else you'll be easy prey for an attacking team. If you do manage to fend off an assault, you're awarded your choice of any player on that team. There are a few other ways to improve your squad this year. You can train players to develop their attributes, improve a city's rating, and even unlock retired greats, such as Karl Malone, if you take over an entire region. Download:

| Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters Publisher: SCEA Developer: SCEA Genre: Sci-Fi Shooter Release Date: Feb 13, 2007 Language: MULTI Type: .CSO Size: 191 MB Description: Ratchet & Clank's signature gameplay travels to the PSP almost completely intact in Size Matters, which packs in a good-size single-player adventure. Ratchet & Clank was a real breath of fresh air when the first game was released on the PlayStation 2 back in 2002. It combined the movement and action of a platform game with the firepower of a shooter, and the end result felt pretty unique. Over time, the formula shifted around a bit, but the Ratchet & Clank games we're seeing today still fall in line with that same blueprint. Size Matters is the first time the series has appeared on the PlayStation Portable, and it's got just about everything you'd want out of a Ratchet & Clank game, including a good sense of humor, interesting weapons, and sharp level design. | Sega Rally Revo Publisher: SEGA Developer: Bugbear Genre: Rally / Offroad Racing Release Date: Oct 9, 2007 Language: MULTI Type: .ISO Size: 148 MB Description: Sega Rally Revo for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 brought the years-old Sega Rally franchise into the current generation of consoles, crafting a fun, though sometimes overly challenging arcade rally racer around the series' trademark powerslide-happy gameplay. Revo was also released for the PSP, and it attempts to do the same thing as the console games, albeit with far less enjoyable results. In a sense, Revo on the PSP suffers from opposite issues of its console counterparts. Whereas the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions featured overly tough computer opponents that you couldn't bump off their racing lines to save your life, in the PSP game the opponents are total pushovers. There is next to no challenge in this game, and what little there is has more to do with the off-kilter controls than anything else. Your first impression of Sega Rally Revo is likely to be the one you'll keep all throughout your time with the game because for as much as things change in the game, they ultimately stay the same. The second you get on a track, you'll know that this is pure arcade driving. Cars are incapable of going off track, with invisible barriers causing vehicles to bounce off everything from trees to minor shrubs. Powerslides are the name of the game, no matter the surface on which you might be driving. And there is a wide variety of surfaces on display. From mud-bogged jungles and sandy beaches to the icy, snowy mountains, you'll encounter all manner of terrain as you drive. Download:

| Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror Publisher: SCEA Developer: SCEA Genre: Modern Tactical Shooter Release Date: Mar 14, 2006 Language: English Type: .CSO Size: 1,01 GB Description: The first portable Syphon Filter is of a rare breed for the PSP--a shooter that offers not only intense stealth and action sequences, but also controls that work. In Dark Mirror, you'll reprise the role of superspy Gabe Logan as you investigate the mysterious attacks on chemical plants by a terrorist organization. The adventure starts off at a base in the chilly tundra of Alaska, but as the convoluted plot unravels, you'll discover the usual fare you'd expect from a techno-thriller. There's secret-weapons development based off genetic-engineering experiments, double-crossing, and even a visit with an old flame of Gabe's. The story isn't all that great, but the way in which the game presents it is simply amazing for the PSP. Download:
